About University of St Andrews – Optical Manipulation Group

The Optical Manipulation Group at University of St Andrews combines expertise in Light-Sheet Microscopy, Raman Spectroscopy, Optical Beam Shaping, Optical Trapping, and Speckle Metrology. In particular, we look to combine these different techniques in a wide variety of measurement challenges, including current focus on performing spectroscopy of analytes hidden behind barriers, gentle hyperspectral metabolic imaging for biomedical applications, and constructing low-cost optical devices to detect the presence of toxic pigments in historic bookbindings.

Open for R&D and collaborations

We are particularly seeking new research challenges in applied spectroscopy, optimising the delivery of light through scattering media, and hyperspectral microscopy.
