Dr Rajbhandari’s research focuses on advancing optical wireless communication (OWC) technologies (Visible light communication, LiFi & Free-space optics (FSO)) across underwater, terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks, with applications in future communication, sensing, positioning and QKD systems. The aims are to establish photonics-enabled wireless links as a key pillar of next-generation networks, complementing conventional RF systems by delivering high-capacity, low-latency, and spectrum-efficient connectivity. His research explores the integration of OWC/FSO into emerging network architectures, mobile platform such as HAPs, enabling scalable, energy-efficient, and multifunctional platforms for next-generation wireless services.
