designLED is an Innovation team within FORVIA, pioneering innovative LED automotive lighting and display technologies. Based near Edinburgh, designLED are focussed on delivering new innovative products which meet the automotive industries expanding demands for high impact user experiences and sustainable solutions. The team have expertise in optics, optoelectronics, and optical materials. Commercial capabilities include business case and use case definition, intellectual property management, sustainability and automotive market intelligence. Technical capabilities include user experience design and implementation, 3D CAD and electronics CAD, electrical system design supported by the integration and software development on commercially available microcontrollers, together with optical and electrical measurement and characterisation. Our strategic interests in funded research include: lighting, displays, sensors, HMI, electronics, user experience, sustainability, additive manufacturing, innovation processes, together with the application of large language models (AI) and design thinking. We also are looking to leverage and exploit group capabilities and route to market.
