UK – Astronomy Technology Centre (Science and Technology Facilities Council)

UK ATC is one of the UK’s National Laboratories within UK Research and Innovation. We design and build Astronomical Instruments for research, on both ground- and space-based telescopes. This puts us at the leading edge of sensing technology, working with research institutes, space agencies and universities across the world. We lead and manage international consortiums to deliver instruments capable of seeing back to the big bang, in order to increase our knowledge of the fundamentals of the universe. We also use our knowledge and facilities to support industry through incubation and access to environmental testing. Our incubators have supported companies in creating more than 150 jobs and attracting £30 million of investment since 2020.
