Headquartered in Edinburgh, the UK’s Integrated Quantum Networks (IQN) Hub is a £20m+ national research consortium combining the expertise of 14 of the UK’s leading Universities, the National Physical Laboratory, and RALSpace (the UK’s R&D centre for space technology). As one of the UK’s five Quantum Technology Hubs, we bring together a critical mass of expertise in quantum communications, incorporating a large network of academic, government and industrial stakeholders to help secure the UK’s continued international leadership in this sector. We address the major challenges facing deployment of a secure “quantum internet” designed to coexist with existing telecommunications frameworks (both fibre-optic and satellite based). As a critical national initiative and steward of key infrastructure (including fibre and satellite testbeds), the IQN Hub is helping to deliver the full spectrum of enabling technologies, networking protocols and international standards which will establish a globally competitive quantum communications industry in the UK.
