STMicroelectronics is a semiconductor manufacturer, its Imaging Subgroup has a competence centre for CMOS photonics and meta-optics R&D in Edinburgh, where innovations in photonics technologies and advanced optics play a key role in our product development. Today the Subgroup has a significant turnover, our imagers and sensors can be found in many top-branded consumer products such as mobile phones and laptops. STMicroelectronics R&D are developing capabilities across the range of photon detection applications, from image sensors for medical devices, to sensors which detect depth for security, automotive, consumer and machine vision markets.
