Strong, up-to-date data is essential to understanding the scale, strengths and future needs of Scotland’s critical technologies ecosystem.
The Photonics Scotland Annual Survey 2026 is now open, giving organisations across the sector an opportunity to contribute to the evidence base for one of the four technology areas at the heart of Scotland’s Critical Technologies Supercluster.
Over the past six years, the survey has helped build a clearer picture of Scotland’s photonics sector and inform discussions with key stakeholders around skills, exports, inward investment and future sector development.
Previous survey evidence also helped support the recognition of photonics, alongside quantum technologies, semiconductors, and sensing and connectivity, within Scotland’s Critical Technologies Supercluster.
With future interventions expected to be evidence-led, strong participation will help ensure the economic contribution, opportunities and priorities of Scotland’s photonics sector are clearly understood and can inform future activity.
All responses will be aggregated and anonymised before reporting.
The deadline to complete the survey is Friday 18 September 2026.
