Glasgow-based AAC Clyde Space has secured a new European Space Agency contract to advance INFLECION, a programme designed to support the next generation of maritime intelligence services.
The programme will develop and demonstrate a twelve-satellite VDES constellation, combining space-based monitoring with two-way communication between satellites, ships and shore. It is designed to help strengthen the operational capability needed for future maritime services, with applications across situational awareness, environmental monitoring and communication far beyond the reach of terrestrial infrastructure.
The announcement also highlights the strength of Scottish representation within the wider programme. Alongside AAC Clyde Space, the Scottish organisations involved include the University of Strathclyde, Craft Prospect, Bright Ascension and Omanos Analytics, reflecting a broad mix of capability across research, engineering, software and analytics.
For Scotland’s Critical Technologies Supercluster, the contract is a strong example of Scottish capability in sensing & connectivity and the wider ecosystem supporting its growth. With five Scottish organisations involved, it highlights the depth of expertise and collaboration contributing to advanced satellite services and next-generation maritime intelligence from a strong national base.
